Paradise Valley Escape
Palm-lined gorges and rock pools in the Atlas foothills, about an hour inland from Agadir.
Inland from Agadir the land rises quickly into the foothills of the Atlas. Here, small Amazigh (Berber) villages of stone and earth cling to the slopes among argan trees, terraces and palms. A day in the hills is a chance to see rural life at its own pace, enjoy wide views and reach Imouzzer Ida Outanane, a mountain village around 60 km north-east of Agadir.

A scenic drive up into the hills with stops in and around villages, viewpoints and, if you like, Paradise Valley on the way. Rural communities are not tourist attractions, so visits are low-key: a walk, a mint tea, perhaps local honey or argan products. Distances are short on the map but the roads are winding — allow plenty of time.

The villages lie in the Ida Outanane hills north-east of Agadir, along the road through Paradise Valley towards Imouzzer Ida Outanane.
The local language is Tashelhit (Amazigh), with Arabic and some French. English is less common, which is part of the charm — a smile goes a long way.
Yes, the valley lies on the same road, so the two fit well into one day.
